Since early 2014, Mobility Unit collaborates in the COST initiative: an intergovernmental framework for European Cooperation in Science and Technology. Under this initiative the work done by DeustoTech focuses on the Transport and Urban Development COST Action TU1306 called CyberParks.

The action's main objective is to create a research platform on the relationship between Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the production of public open spaces, and their relevance to sustainable urban development. The impacts of this relationship will be explored from social, ecological and urban design perspectives. CyberParks action deals with opportunities and risks ICTs offer to the user, via the appreciation, design and usage of public spaces. It exploits the benefits of interweaving a green experience with digital engagement via sharing knowledge, experiences and ideas, and analyzing public spaces.

As a result of work done during the first half of 2014 a mobile application and a website have been developed. The mobile application is available in Apple Store and Google Play. The application is intended to serve as a platform for citizens to provide information about their experience and use of ICTs in green spaces. The first version of the app focused its work in the city of Lisbon, but over the coming months its area of action will be extended to many other European cities. Next stop Barcelona in November 2014.
