The researcher Luis Enrique Díez presented the work entitled "Step Length Estimation using UWB Technology: A Preliminary Evaluation" in which the use of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless communication technology is proposed to obtain estimates of the step length during the human gait. UWB technology offers a good balance of accuracy, coverage area and cost, so it may be an interesting option for gait analysis or calibration of inertial navigation systems.

In this year's edition, in addition to presenting the latest advances in the field of indoor positioning systems, it has played a major role the recent possibility of implementing advanced GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) techniques from commercial smartphones, such as the use of several satellite constellations (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO), multiple frequencies and direct access to raw measurements of GNSS receivers. All these techniques will allow in the near future to significantly increase the location accuracy available on smartphones. In order to be able to apply these new technical possibilities to real projects, DeustoTech Mobility participated in a tutorial given at the same conference by the European Space Agency, the European GNSS Agency and Airbus.
