The Transport Challenge of Horizon 2020 research & innovation programme distinctly addresses Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (C-ITS) as key innovation to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the European transport system, and to provide seamless travel opportunities for citizens. In 2015, a number of research and innovation as well as coordination and support actions have collaborated to cover different aspects of ICT research and operation in multimodal traffic and transport. The intention is to fully exploit the potential synergies between projects.

Following the first coordinators’ workshop in November 2015, and through regular information exchange, the projects have identified areas of common interest such as open data, V2X applications beyond Day One, and the organisation of Pilots.

In the 2nd Coordinators workshop, the projects took stock of the achievements of the Horizon 2020 ITS & Connected Vehicles cooperation, and further developed future cooperation activities in the areas of common interest.

Four additional 'automation' projects have been launched this autumn. The workshop provides the new projects with an opportunity to introduce themselves and to explore the relevance and need for co-operation in the wider ITS framework.

The TIMON project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 636220
